Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Last updated: [to be confirmed]

Draft placeholder. This is sample text and a working demonstration form so the page can be reviewed. The form is not connected to anything — submitting it sends nothing. A receiving endpoint and a request log must be in place, and the wording checked by counsel, before this page goes live.

1. What this page is for

Some state privacy laws give residents the right to direct a business not to sell or share their personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising. This page is how you exercise those rights with ACFN.

We do not sell personal information for money. However, certain analytics and advertising technologies used on this website may qualify as a “sale” or “share” under those laws even when no money changes hands, so we offer this choice to everyone regardless of where you live.

2. Two ways to opt out

Turn off the technologies in your browser

The fastest route is our Manage Cookies page. Switching off Marketing and advertising stops the categories that give rise to sharing on this device. You will need to do this in each browser and on each device you use.

Send us a request

To make a request that applies to your record with us rather than to one browser, use the form below. This is also where you request access to, deletion of, or correction of your information.

3. Submit a request

We will use the details you provide only to verify and process your request.

Only fill this in if you are submitting on someone else’s behalf.

* Required

4. Global Privacy Control

Where required by law, we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser as a valid request to opt out of the sale and sharing of personal information for that browser. You do not need to submit the form as well.

[Confirm that the site actually detects and honours the GPC signal before this statement goes live — making the claim without the implementation is itself a compliance problem.]

5. How we handle your request

  • We acknowledge requests promptly and respond within the period required by the applicable law.
  • For access, deletion and correction requests we must verify your identity first, and may ask for information to match against our records.
  • An authorised agent may submit a request on your behalf with proof of authorisation.
  • We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.
  • If we cannot act on a request, we will tell you why.

[Confirm the response deadlines, the verification standard, and the appeal process required in each state where ACFN does business.]

6. Categories we disclose

The categories of personal information that may be shared with advertising and analytics partners are identifiers (such as an online identifier or IP address) and internet activity (such as pages viewed on this site). We do not share the contact details you submit through the availability check with advertising partners.

Full detail on what we collect and why is in our Privacy Policy. [Confirm these categories against the final tag list.]
